The real ones are almost impossible to find. You can tell the reproductions because the do not have the Makers mark and Dolly stamped on the side. Reproductions have the doors attached by screws. Yes, I did my research a little late, but found the reproductions do have value. This one has very nice nickel plating on legs, doors, and upper shelf – more than most reproductions. There is on round stove plate missing. There is a decorative round silver piece that actually came with the stove (see pictures) that I put in the hole. The may be a small door flap on bottom side were wood would go missing – I do not know and do not think this takes away anything – but must mention it. Stove is Massive – 60 pounds – 18 x 27 x11. This includes the smoke stack (not on most) for height. I believe in honesty and see so many list not mentioning they a reproductions, if they did their homework they would learn they still have some value – still I spent too much on this pick – live and learn. The side skirt , bread warmer, drawer doors and oven door all are removable and open. This company was one of the major makers of toy stoves and other cast iron toys in the late 19th century / early 20th century. Larger size with 6 burners on range. DATE : late 19th Century, early 20th C. CONDITION : Missing step shelf from the left side, which would have had the name IDEAL on it. Missing right extended shelf. Missing back pipe cover with ornate parts that would have been on each side. All over light rusting. More rust under the rectangle cover on top. Doors open and close. Went out of business in 1930’s. Made of cast iron and nickel. Complete with some original accessories that are hard to find and original to stove. Frying pan, bucket, bake sheet, and stack for stove pipe. All moving parts are working. I have not cleaned this in any way. Stove measures: 18″ long, 8 3/4″ depth, height with stack 26″, height without stack 16″. Stack can be removed. All pics in natural light. Stove has some rust here and there. Stove sits on silver cast iron base. Doors open and close. Great piece of Americana. Very solid and heavy. View closely and enlarge. Surely would be a highlight to any collection.
