Raised lid lettering: The Favorite Stove & Range Co – Piqua, O.. Original hand-painted yellow and green leaf motif. Swing handle intact. Solid heavy construction Condition: Shows age, surface dust, paint wear and patina. Recommended for decorative display rather than food use. A wonderful example of early American cast iron cookware. Big Beautiful Marietta #10 cast iron skillet. Bold markings on the bottom. Has about 1/16 movement. This IS a spinner on a glass top stove so it would be best suited for gas or coil electric stoves. Also marked R & C (Reinhold & Co) which dates this pan in the 1870s-1880s. Pan is in great condition for its age. Has been cleaned via electrolysis and seasoned with my own blend of natural Pennsylvania beeswax, crisco and olive oil. Wiped down with food grade mineral oil to protect it from surface rust.

Late 19th-century cast iron salesman sample stove marked Eclipse
Salesman sample stoves were popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, allowing traveling salesmen to showcase their company’s products to potential retailers without carrying full-sized stoves. These miniature stoves were often made with the same level of detail as their larger counterparts. This is a cast nickel stove with very elaborate embossed ornamentation featuring medallions and floral-themed scrolls. The stove has six burners and lidded reservoir, very richly decorated cast nickel chimney with elevated double-door warming cupboard, wide front oven door with name “Eclipse”, shaking grate with access from front and side, warming hearth with rare removable floral embossed side vents. An extraordinary stove in beautifully preserved condition except it needs polishing. American, circa 1890, model 58 by J&E Stevens, Cromwell, Connecticut that continued to be made until at least 1903 when it was advertised in Montgomery Ward catalog as “undoubtedly one of the handsomest toy ranges on the market” ; the firm also produced other cast iron toys and banks.

Pitting: Pock marks and minor sulfur pitting in spots. Casting Flaws: Pock marks and sand shift lines. Other: Top of handle near the number has indent/grind mark.
