Loth’s Franklin Cast Iron Stove w/ Nickle Plate. Stove is in great condition considering it age. Back of stove is stainless steel. There is some lite rust. 27″ Wide at base 23″ Wide at Top 21″ Deep 33″ High. Period of Production: 1890. Products Manufactured: full Line. Loth hollow ware pieces appear to have been cast from patterns made from altered Griswold pans, their raised letter lids from altered Iron Mountain covers. 1890 – Company founded. 1890s – Hollow ware added. Loth buys out his father’s interest in company. 1928 – Electric stove design “Hotpoint” developed. 1932 – GE sells foundry back to Loth Stove employees. 1938 – Company begins marketing products made of brass and non-ferrous metals under the name Viginia Metalcrafters. It was made by the Excelsior Stove Works / I. This stove dates from the late 19. The stove measures 45 inches high, 20 in depth and 27 wide. Most of the parts are marked with PFR 17. The cast iron body with decorative rope surround with gilt details with further gilt decoration, raised on four legs. There is some old plastic on the cover (no glass) and on the bottom grate is missing the hinge pins but can be easily replaced. The stove came from an old estate in central PA. It has a lot of age to it and just needs a good cleaning. It makes for a great entertaining piece and is very hard to find. This item comes as is so please see pictures for more details.
