This most elaborate four column cast iron stove is attributed to “James Wager Troy NY 1840-43″. The Albany Institute of Art has a large collection of these Ornate parlor stoves that were made in the Albany area. Tammis Groft former curator at the Albany Institute in her book called “Cast with Style” pictures many elaborate examples, & one most similar to this one by Wager. Stove bodies usually mirrored the taste of the period in furnishings and architecture. The metal-plate sides, fronts and tops of the simplest boxes of the 1830’s are stamped with neoclassic motifs of the Empire style. Some parlor stoves made in that decade for wealthy clients reflect the rage in that time for Greek Revival architecture. Whether placed in a period interior, or as a focal point of a room, this cast iron stove will be a treat to look at. There is a small almost triangular piece of iron missing under the left round circle near the base. Wear consistent with age and use. X W 32 in. X D 22 in. H 147.32 cm x W 81.28 cm x D 55.88 cm. Junior “The Great Majestic” antique 19th century 1870’s cast iron stove. This is the rare salesman sample! Comes with everything shown in photos. Has both upper side detachable Majestic shelves. Had right side Stove detachable Majestic shelf. Comes with 2 original Majestic cast iron pans (shown in photos). And one handle that’s attached to front left side (not exactly sure what parts called). Comes with original oven rack (shown in photos). Everything opens/closes and works perfectly. Stove could use a cleaning. Even a wet rag shines it up quite a bit but I only did one small spot. This stove is stunning in the current condition as it is. Would love to see it when it’s all shined up! Overall this is in great condition, especially for its age. Does have one small rusted corner on back bottom right (as shown in photos). Condition is exactly as shown in photos so please use your own best personal judgement as well. So please feel free to ask any questions beforehand. I will include photos of the process and which screws go where. Very simple setup (just the four screws for the top).
