Offered is a very rare Sougland coal stove in near-original condition from a company that has been making stoves of all types for over 500 years. This stove originated in the region of the French and Belgian border over a century ago. Here is a great opportunity for an antique stove collector to add a rare and classic model to his collection. This survivor is 39″ long, 32″ high and 18 deep and its original green enamel finish has survived in surprisingly good condition. The minimal restoration consists of two of the internal threaded connector rods that had to be modified and repaired, one grate support that was eroded away by the heat over the years and had to be replaced in order to function as intended. One of the long side-rails was broken and has been epoxied together as was one of the burner insert rings which has also been epoxied back together. These parts were not welded in order to preserve the original enamel finish otherwise the stove is in original condition throughout. The intense heat has eroded most of the enamel away around the Sougland name on the end-cap above the bowl where the hot coals were placed as shown. All of the burner inserts are present as is the solid locking cover plate used to select either a vertical or horizontal exit for the stove pipe. Communication from the still-existing Sougland factory describes this classic as being in use during the late 1800s through the early 1930s and is included.
