This vintage Griswold Manufacturing Co. Four-paddle cast iron french waffle maker, with spiderweb pattern, has capacity to cook eight waffles simultaneously which is very RARE! I’ve seen numerous Griswold french waffle irons with one, two or four waffle designs but none like this one which has capacity for eight. Griswold Manufacturing was in business from 1865 through 1957. It had a world-wide reputation for high quality cast iron cook ware and very prolific in the latter 19th century and made a lot of cast iron french waffle makers and other cookware in its Erie, Pa facilities. This item shows a patent date of June 29, 1880. Today Griswold peices are highly collectable. This waffle maker has not been restored or seasoned, only cleaned, and is in very good condition. The lifting ring is missing on one side, and there is one barely detectable crack through one of the cross members, as shown in one of the pictures, but this does not affect function, nor does it create any “wiggle” or movement in the piece. The base of the waffle maker is approximately 21″ long, 10″ wide and about 3 tall as seen in the photos. It weighs 20 lbs. We will be happy to answer any questions so please ask!
