Antique Cast Iron Woodstove Plate Part – With A Beautiful Mural Depicting Two Lumberjacks At Work – A Family Of Moose – A Fox Headed For The Henhouse – A Horse – & Two Birds In Flight. This cast iron piece is in great condition for age. The four corners are factory notched – not broken. There is some surface rust remaining on the front side and the back side. Light brushing or sanding and some polishing with wax or oil you should end up with one beautiful wall hanging ready to frame or incorporate it into your fireplace or set it on your mantel. This piece is large, 26 1/2″ wide – 13 1/2″ high – 3/8 thick. This item is also quite heavy, weighing in at almost 27 lbs. Judging by the mounting tabs on the backside, I’m assuming this cast iron piece was once part of a large woodstove.
An early antique 17th century example of a panel of a Scandinavian five-plate/jamb stove plate. This large, nicely cast piece depicts St. George atop his horse, slaying a fierce dragon. He is portrayed within a classical arch, with weaponry on the flanks. The piece would make a handsome fireback for a large fireplace or a stove backsplash in a kitchen. Antique Architectural Salvage Cast Iron Raised Relief Decorative Stove/Fireplace Plate. This is a Pre-Owned Item. Measurements: Approximately 10 3/4″ Square Outside: Inside Framed Approximately 7″ Square. Weighs Approximately 6 lbs. The decorative Lady’s Head piece is inset, it is a separate piece and does move slightly within the frame but doesn’t appear to open. There are a few scratches and a small blemish on the right bottom corner (See Pictures). The imperfections of this item are a characteristic of its age and usage.
