AWESOME antique cast iron ” LIFT UP ” U S LETTERS mailbox. Made by READING STOVE WORKS READING PA. ORIGINAL gray with red highlights. It measures 17 1/4″ high x 12 1/2″ wide x 8 deep (without back bracket). MAY 8, 1894 on bracket and would guess this letter mailbox is of that era or a little later. It has both the pieces of mounting bracket. Also included is a USN brass lock &key that was on it when I bought it years ago. This is a GREAT early piece of United States Postal history. Condition is GOOD, as seen in photos, There is the typical wear from age and use, including the 2 visible broken (missing) pieces in photos. I have NOT attempted to clean at all. I can meet you 1/2 way within a 100 miles.

Rippingilles Cast Iron Antique Oil Burning Heater Lead Glass. This Unit is intact All glass is intact (no cracks) This Unit is complete accept needs new wicks to be operational. (repacement wicks readily available online) Glass is antique lead Cathedral glass combo of Red colored glass and Clear cut glass. This piece dates back to late 1880s – Somewhere along the way a previous owner painted it off-white (Originally it was Black). See Detailed Photos Questions and or Comments Welcome and Appreciated! 1895 founded a lamp company in Aston, Birmingham, about 1875: this became the Albion Lamp Company by about 1888. By this time another member of the family, Frank Rippingille, had founded another patent stove company – also in Aston- and the two appear to have been in competition until Frank Rippingille’s firm closed in 1903. Then – renaming itself Rippingille’s and continuing in business making heaters and cooking stoves out of the Albion works in Aston- Alexander’s firm continued to 1971 when taken over by Valor Ltd. The stoves included models for use afloat, not least in yachts: in Erskine Childers”Riddle of the Sands’ (1903) Davies asks Carruthers (in London, by telegram) to obtain a No 3 Rippingille stove and bring it to Flensburg (see Notebook field). Many parts of the stove are embossed such as the door and top compartments. Comes with tools/accessories shown. Ring base measures 14″ in diameter x 2″ high. Stove is 21″ high x 11″ diameter at the base (38 pounds). Total weight unpackaged is 47 pounds 8 ounces. There is a hole on the right side (see last picture).
