Antique Portland Stove Foundry Co. 76 cast-iron Franklin-style fireplace/parlor stove, made in Portland, Maine, circa late 19th century. Highly decorative Victorian design with cast columns, chevron detailing, sunburst side panels, brass rosettes and brass ball finials. Interior is prominently cast “76” and retains original foundry markings. Exceptional provenance: original to the historic residence at 3318 Reservoir Rd NW in Georgetown, Washington, D. The address also appears in President Harry S. Truman-era White House appointment records in connection with Walter Brooks of the Motion Picture Herald’s Managers Round Table. Unrestored antique condition with surface rust, oxidation, soot and age-related wear. Includes screen, internal supports and components shown. Later flue pipe present.
