Antique – Railroad Quailty – Cast Iron – Pot Belly Stove. A old wood/coal pot belly stove, used to heat railroad cabooses and parlor cars. The railroad connection “tell” is the raised lip, surrounding the perimeter of the stove top. This design feature keep kettles and pots from falling, when the train was in motion. Made by the Estate Stove Company ca 1905. It is the “Smoke Consumer Model 240″. Height – 35 1/2. 23″ x 21 1/2″. Inside Lip Top Surface Area – Approx. Lip Height – Approx 1/2. Metal – Cast Iron. Maker and exact age of this small stove is unknown. Stove was found disassembled and 2 of the 3 flanges on the center (potbelly) part had broken off; a metal band with flanges was fabricated to fasten the’belly’ to the top part (see pics). The stove was reassembled securely and a fresh coat of paint applied. Stove appears complete (see pics), includes stove pipe & elbow and lift handle for the burner lids.
