Also known as a six-plate stove and jamb stove. These were very common in the 1700’s through the early 1900’s From what I’ve learned, I believe this piece was made between the 1740’s and 1820’s. The name cast on both sides is hard to make out. I’ve settled on’J. I’ve spent many hours researching the name and can’t find anything. It definitely was not made by one of the more popular foundries of the day. I really love this piece, but I can’t devote time to salvaging it. It features bird and floral design with a leaf cross embelishment on the back. It needs a lot of love, but with a lot of elbow grease, can be easily restored. The stand the stove rests on has a leg missing but it can still withstand the weight of the stove.
