WWII era massive cast iron griddle marked 24 US Knox Stove Works 1941. Collectible cast iron griddle with unique sense of history – rustic. Dimensions 33 1/2 inches long with handles, 31 inches long, 20 3/4 wide, 1 1/4 inches thick. It weights in at 45 -53 lbs. Knox Stove Works, Knoxville, Tennessee, has been making wood burning cookstoves since 1911. They introduced their very modern-looking “Mealmaster” wood cookstove to homemakers in 1938. When United States joined the war in December 1941, the company as many other foundries around the country was enlisted as the contractor for United States army. Assuming this is a military stove griddle but it would fit over the top of a four burner stove, and compatible wood stove. Could work for cabin owners, restaurant setting, camping or cooking for a group. 79 years old in unrestored condition – It has not been cleaned or seasoned, the cooking surface has been used accordingly and extensively, severe surface rust and scratches are present.
