Primitive Extremely Rare Waffle Iron was manufactured by Abbott & Lawrence of Philadelphia, Pa. Which launched Liberty Stove Works in 1851 and changed names in 1858. In 1858 the name was changed to Abbott & Noble, Abbott retired at the end of the 1860s, and from 1870 onwards the firm was Charles Noble & Co, closed its doors is 1915. This fine waffle iron set is typical of a 1800’s primitive cookware piece with the waffle iron consisting of two iron paddles and a base that would hold the paddles and sit over the eye of an early cook stove. The waffle iron is made of a solid sturdy cast iron with a hinged joint which holds the irons two plates / paddles together much like a modern waffle iron. Has an original patina and is in very good condition. 6 lbs (shown on my 5 lb scale with needle going around once a pound). Please check my other auctions for more good tools and parts.
