Hudson River Stove Works Red Burgundy Catskill Model Wood Stove with Glass Door. This stove is made of. Heavy cast iron which radiates heat into the home long after the fire has gone out and will last a lifetime. The cast iron is coated with porcelain in a deep, burgundy color. The fire box has a double walled cast iron liner reflecting radiant heat back into the fire, which results in a cleaner, more efficient burn. The glass door is all one piece and is very easy to clean with wood stove spray cleaner. In fact, it doesn’t get very smokey at all because the stove is so efficient you don’t have to clean it very often. Efficiency, burn time and BTUs. Will vary depending on the moisture content and type of wood used. Max burn time without adding logs is 7 hours. It can put out as much as 35,000 BTUs with the air vent (the draft) opened all the way. But we found we had to partially close the draft to keep from getting the rooms downstairs too hot. Ideal log length is 16 in. If put in diagonally it may take logs as long as 17 in. But it becomes frustrating to try to use logs that are too long. The dimensions of the stove are listed above in Item Specifics. The flue can be mounted on the stove top or the back of the stove. It takes a 6 in. Flue and 6 in. The owner’s manual comes with it and contains very clear directions for attaching the stove pipe and deciding exactly how you want to position the stove in your space.
