Up for sale is a tough to find King Stove and Range #12 cast iron spider skillet. This is a the earliest design of King Stove spider skillets that I’m aware of and it pre-dates the most common Martin Stove and Range spider skillets. This is most readily identified by the different design on the top of the lid which is unlike any other King/Martin spiders I’ve ever seen. I suspect this piece was made in the early 1900’s and could even date back to the Lizzie Lowman Stove Works in Sheffield. These are really tough to find in any condition. This piece has some pitting on top from wear and tear over the years as well as pitting on the bottom piece. The lid doesn’t fit all that great on the bottom, so I’m not sure if the set is a marriage or not. It has already been cleaned and seasoned so it will arrive to you ready to use or display. This piece was stripped using a proven two step lye bath/electrolysis tank process. It was then seasoned three times using PAM (canola oil) at 500 degrees. This piece will arrive ready to display or use. I photograph my cast iron in very bright lighting so it’s easy to see what you are getting. I photograph all defects and problems with all of my pieces. Please check my feedback. The majority of my buyers say my skillets look better in person than what the pictures show. I want you to see exactly what you are getting! I do not oil, mask defects, or otherwise make my skillets extra shiny in pictures just to make them look better. Generally, you can expect the piece to be quite a bit darker when it arrives at your door step. No drill brushes, surface grinders, or sand/media blasting equipment is ever used in my restorations. Be wary of iron that appears extremely shiny as these pieces could have a problem holding a seasoning in the future. All my iron is carefully packed in custom sized boxes to ensure that it arrives to you in the same condition it left me. Please keep this in mind while you are leaving feedback, as I’m sure you’d rather pay a few extra dollars for a better box and packing materials than have a broken piece of vintage cast iron arrive at your door step!
