Has light surface rust, would have been chrome but thats gone except you can see a few hints of the chrome here and there. Glass is good, but its a little dirty inside. Rare – This is a Cast Iron thermometer, sundial type piece, made by The Foundry Of The Shoals in Florence Alabama in the early 1990s and given to employees as a Christmas gift. Every year at Christmas, the Foundry would make an iron item for its small group of less than 100 employees. Foundry Of The Shoals (FOS) made castings in the same building as the Martin Stove & Range Foundry that closed in the 1950s. The first few years that the Foundry made the Christmas gifts for employees, they were not dated. This is in excellent condition and measures about 7 7/8 inches diameter & is about 1/4 inches thick.
