10 7/8 measured at the top rim. Bail handle is a replacement and is a little bent out of shape. Interior of the dutch oven has a small oil drip in the seasoning. “ERIE” Cast Iron Dutch Oven 833 w/ Matching Flat Lid 837, #8. In good condition for its age. It is rare to find this set with PN numbers on both pieces. Measures 10″ in diameter, approx 4″ tall not including the lid. The Cooking surface is smooth with typical utensil marks as shown in the photos. Bailed handle has no kinks. I do not see any cracks or repairs and no chips on the Dutch oven or the cover. It has not been restored or seasoned. There are normal signs of wear and discoloration. Please look at all the photos for a more accurate description.

Vintage Chicago Hardware Foundry #8 cast iron deep skillet/chicken fryer with the hammered pattern and matching cover. Measures 11 1/4 inches wide at the spouts and 3 1/8 inches tall. The cooking surface measures 8 1/4 inches across. It is not warped but will spin when the handle is tapped on the side if it is on a glass surface. The bottom surface is excellent with crisp, clear numbers. The interior cooking surface is nice and smooth with typical marks from age and use. The matching cover is also in excellent condition with no cracks. About Cast Iron Archaeology. Restoring vintage and antique cast iron cookware is my passion. For me this is a labor of love. The difference between my cast iron and the others out there is the attention to detail. First, I strip it down to the bare iron with my all natural process. Then, I season each piece using a combination of beeswax and natural oils. Very Nice Griswold No. 8, Pattern Number 777, Small Block Logo, deep cast iron skillet/chicken fryer with matching #1098 High Dome Lid. CONDITION: Skillet is in very good vintage condition and has seen alot of use, but has many more years ahead of it. Skillet has subtle tic/wobble at the 10 o’clock position when pushed hard corrected by 1 index card, but otherwise sits flat on hard smooth granite countertop. Cooking surface is smooth with light wear and some very minor micro pitting which will fill in with seasoning with use. Lines on logo and numbering are clean and clear. Lid sits well on skillet with only minimal movement. Skillet does not spin, has no cracks, rust, or repairs. Please see photos as part of description. RESTORATION: This vintage piece of cast iron has been carefully cleaned to bare iron using a combination of electrolysis, lye, and vinegar. It has been seasoned with 4 layers of grape seed oil at 500 degree for a deep, beautiful, patina finish. Rim to rim: 10-1/2 inches. Depth of skillet: 3 inches. Length: (including handle) 15-1/4 inches.

The cooking surface measures 8 1/2 inches across. Sits nice on a gas or electric coil stovetop but may not be appropriate for a glass stovetop due to a wobble.
