Antique French Stove Heavy Cast Iron Original Tiles
ANTIQUE FRENCH STOVE HEAVY CAST IRON ORIGINAL TILES. This rare antique stove from France, made of heavy cast iron with brass trim is in excellent condition and requires no restoration. Carefully maintained, it is decorated with the original tiles from France, and all are in good condition, with the exception of two tiles, that have cracks, but are not visible. The oven doors open and close and the plates can be lifted to view the burning embers inside, if it was lighted! This stove would make a unique display unit in a bakery or restaurant where it could be piled high with fresh oven baked bread, and rolls, or displayed with cooking pots and casseroles in a cookware store. Bring three strong people to help with the move – it is heavy and there is no one to help. Circa guesstimate: Late 19th Century, early 20th Century. SIZE 32 wide x 24 deep 32.5 high inches. Antique Cast Iron Kitchen Stove with Original Art Nouveau Floral Tiles, including spare tiles. Dates to the early 1900s. The stove has two oven doors, an air draft opening and circular draft control. The original cast iron firepot has been removed to lighten the stove allowing the interior space to be used for storage. Sets up nicely as a bar. There are left and right warming drawers with a center ash drawer burned through in the middle. There is a thin crack in the cook top and the lift off wood fuel feed cover is also cracked. Both are physically solid and characteristic of castings of that period. Glass insulators under each foot are included. Rescued from Belgium in 1975. Tiles were numbered, stove was disassembled, frame cleaned and rustoleum painted black, then reassembled using new hardware. Well-maintained and in good, clean condition. Possibly made at Les Fonderies Bruxelloises. Measures 33″ tall, 34.5″ across, with a depth of 24.5. It is a No. Lots of great period detailing in the design and the original blue porcelain tiles (ladies on two sides and a lady and flowers on the short end). It has a recent repaint, so very little rust is evident. One rail is broken and gone as shown in the second picture. The central portrait tile on the short end is cracked; the other eight are in good condition apart from normal crazing. I have been told this is missing the leg base. As you can see, this is otherwise a really nice antique stove. Measures about 34″ long and 30″ tall.
