Army Cannon Heater no. 20 made by the Excelsior Stove Mfg. Is a massive pot belly stove measuring 56 inches high and the feet measure 30 inches across. It probably weighs between 400 and 500 pounds. It has been completely rebuilt and is ready to be put into service. This is the largest wood & Coal burning stove used by the U. Army to heat the Army Barracks from around 1890 to 1950. It has been completely dis assembled, cleaned, repairs made where necessary, the top collar crack has been re-enforced with a steel plate bolted to the inside and sealed with the cement, the rear upper half of the barrel has a new steel bolting tab added in the back and the joint properly cemented, the cracked flange there is only superficial as are the sections of the flange on the upper collar. All of these have been properly sealed. Re assembled with all new fasteners, seams sealed with Rutland Metal & Masonry Cement and re coated with Rutland Stove Polish. An impressive large stove that will easily heat a Cabin, small home or Shop space in the coldest Climate. It is on a 4 wheel dolly for loading on a trailer or a fork lift is available for loading on a truck. The item “U. S. This is a perfect working stove in the cellar of my 1895 Victorian home. When the outside temp goes below 15 degrees, I fire up this work of art with the accumulated wood from around my property. Years ago burnt coal for weeks at a time. If you know how to work these things, you can make it glow at the lower belly! But, be careful, that’s how to burn down your house. The heat is amazing, prevents frozen pipes in the cellar and walls. Footprint is 27″ x 27″ and 47 to the stove top. I have owned and used this beauty since 1960, All the doors are snug and work properly, no parts missing, the deflection baffle is there in the upper chamber, all the bolts are there. There is a crack in the front of the lower belly which was there when I bought this stove and all these years later has not progressed and remains unchanged, it’s tight and does not leak. These stoves have interesting histories and today are very rare, lots got junked because you must have working knowledge of how to start these up without filling your dwelling with smoke to be successful at the hours and hours of free heat you get. This is a working stove with solid original grates, not a restored show piece for display. Although you can paint it and make it look nice. Great also for heat in gargages, camps and meeting halls. It comes complete with all the original handles and levers needed to operate it. It measures 5′ tall, and weighs estimated 450 lbs. It was definitely used in WWI and probably in WWII and the Korean conflict. It is in excellent condition and has been refurbished with 5 coats of high temp paint.
